Workshop Description: Singing actors all have the same problems, no matter where they are working. Doing your best in this business means healthy and expressive singing, even in the most stressful situations. The class will begin with simple warm-up techniques to help prepare your body and voice for the job of auditioning. Getting work as a singer means not only preparing your instrument, but also understanding how your audition pieces show who you are and what you are capable of. Does your rep fit your voice, as well as your “type?” Are your music skills holding you back? How can you make solid singing part of your skills package, whether you have years of training or are just starting out? As time permits, class participants will be able to sing one prepared song for comment and analysis. An accompanist will be provided. Only performers who bring legible sheet music in the correct key will be able to sing.
Requirements: Please bring a variety of sample sheet music that is clearly marked and be prepared to sing your audition piece or another piece of your choice. Also, please check out helpful hints under “Audition Requirements & Procedures.”
